The rain fell in heavy drops, pelting the ashok and variety pine trees that dominated the rich valley. Echoes of owls howling in the distance were hollow and eerie in the constant beat of rain. She ventured deeper under the canopy of the shack of a once beautiful cottage and wrapped her arms tighter around herself.
She was a little above 5"4 with an exquisite body far beyond her 16 years. Her slender neck was supported by a pair of delicate shoulders. Water settled on her shoulder blades that were exposed by the torn collar of the red cotton shirt she wore.Firm, small breasts were supported by a tiny waist that flared out into startingly curvaceous hips on slender thighs and long beuatiful legs. The huge skirt she wore did nothing to hide the beautiful features of this fair maiden. Her hair was long and midnight black falling a little close to her shoulders in the two braided tails tied together with a piece of cloth at the end.Her black hair brought out the beautiful milk-and-honey complexion on her face and golden-brown,almond-shaped eyes. Her tiny button nose sniffed back to stop from running and her soft, luscious lips trembled in the cold.Despite the grimness of the whole situation,a small smile curled the corners of her mouth as lightning struck and thunder rumbled when she remembered the old fable to keep children from plaing in the rain that her grandmother used to tell them whenever it rained.Looking down at her red shirt she remembered how red clothes were said to attract lightning and that it could strike them dead.
It was getting dark. She was cold and hungry and did not know how she would survive that night and yet she was feeling safer there, underneath that flimsy, delapidated tile roof than back home in the warmth of her father's house.A tear mixed with rain silently fell to the now muddy ground.A sole tear lost in little rivers of rain water.Just as alone as she felt, lost in a sea of people with no direction and no hope for the future whatsoever. She silently cried in her heart, having no strength left to cry and her last tear having dropped.Wiping her nose with the back of her slender hand, her brow furrowed and her lips set in determination, she reached for the small bag she that hung on a broken window pane stepping into the rain, head bowed down and walked briskly down the muddy road not knowing where she was headed.
